School Rules

GENERAL SCHOOL-WIDE RULES
  1. Follow directions the first time they are given.
  2. Stay in assigned areas.
  3. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.
  4. No name calling, cursing, or teasing.
  5. No fighting.
  6. No toys, electronic games, iPods, MP3 players, CD players, etc.
  7. No gum.
 
CAFETERIA AND LUNCH TABLES
  1. Follow directions the first time they are given.
  2. Talk quietly.
  3. Put trash in the trash barrels.
  4. Do not throw food.
  5. Do not leave until you are dismissed. Food should not be shared with others.


PLAYGROUND
 
  1. Follow adults’ directions.
  2. Stay in assigned areas on school grounds.
  3. Use equipment properly.
  4. Play by the rules.
  5. Take turns fairly.
 
RESTROOMS
  1. Use restrooms properly.
  2. Do not litter or splash water.
  3. Leave the restroom promptly.
  4. Do not loiter around the restrooms and drinking fountains.
  5. GO – FLUSH – WASH – LEAVE
 
SERIOUS OFFENSES
 
There are flagrant offenses for which children may be sent directly to the principal. These offenses include:
  • Forgery
  • Fighting
  • Insubordination
  • Profanity or obscene gestures
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Stealing
  • Damaging Property
  • Leaving Campus
  • Continuous disruption of school activities
  • Gang activities (e.g. throwing gang signs, wearing gang attire, writing graffiti, etc.)
 
The consequence for a student who is sent to the Principal is a referral or suspension depending on the severity and number of previous offenses.
  1. Referral – Note to parent
  2. Referral – Note to and phone call to parent.
  3. Referral – Note, phone call and a parent conference.
  4. Referral – Suspension
Natural consequences will accompany each referral. For example, suspension from recess or class, detention, clean up duty, etc.


The California Education Code lists several reasons for immediate suspension or expulsion from school.
  1. Making threats
  2. Fighting and / or causing willful injury
  3. Possession of knives, weapons or dangerous objects
  4. Possession of alcohol, drugs or tobacco
  5. Damage or theft of school or private property
  6. Disruption of school activities
  7. Insubordination or defiant behavior. Obscene behavior or language
